Looking for a Unique Gift? Look no Further.

Start thinking about creative, fun and unique gifts for the every occasion. If you’re looking for unique ideas or would like to support local artists, stop by Serendipity Gifts and Furnishings, 2030 South 900 East, Suite D, to browse the many beautiful items available. With everything from hand-dyed, knitted caps to Ukrainian chests, Karen Keely’s half-retail/half-consignment shop is a treasure trove.
Serendipity Gifts and Furnishings is owned and operated by Karen who, after spending 23 years in military service, was ready to follow her heart and open her own businesses. She says after taking orders for more than two decades, she was ready to do something entirely different.
“It has been a dream of mine forever,” Karen says. “I thought’ I’ve got to stop dreaming and just do it.’"
By contacting local artists, she has created a shop in Sugar House where people can find one-of-a-kind objects while enjoying a fun place to visit. Beautiful mirrors made by Rex Sawyer and clutch purses by Mode are indicative of the diversity of items found at Serendipity Gifts. Karen also features pottery by award-winning artist Rose Call whose clay creations are a fun addition to any home. Clunky candlesticks, elegant pedestal cake plates, hand-blown glass necklaces, fun pet frames, hand-painted silk scarves and chunky jewelry create an eclectic assortment of gifts for customers to choose from.
Organic products from Seattle can be found at Serendipity Gifts featuring lotions, balms, lip treatments and vintage soaps. Baby items such as blankets, socks, and even an organic Bum Bar for rashes are available at the shop. Linda’s Hats provides hand-knit caps with fun accessories like ostrich feathers and flowers for infants.
Heidi Smith’s shabby-chic furniture is available at Serendipity Gifts. Her refurbished, recycled furniture is stylish, eco-friendly and creative.
“Her stuff is so good that I’ll just die if she ever leaves me,” Karen says. “She takes damaged things and refurnishes them. She’ll find old furniture and make it beautiful.”
Located near Second-Hand Chic (a consignment clothing and furniture store) and the Age Cage (a shop offering retro and vintage furniture), Karen believes Serendipity Gifts is in a perfect spot for the customer who wants a complete shopping experience.
“It’s so awesome to have them all here,” she says. “You can walk out of one and right into another one.”
